The Swan Boat Pond is found in the Boston Public Garden which is located next to Boston Common. The Common has been around forever and was used as public cattle grazing land in 1630. The Public Garden was developed in the 1830s as marshland was filled and developed. Better information is here.

Both Miss Swans - the latest Boston scandal. The poor things are nesting and laying eggs and trying to raise a family but they're both females, so nothing's happening.
The ducks, on the other hand, seem to be prolific.
